This week’s show is about Citizen Science, a welcome new trend in the field of science and research.  It’s also about tiger beetles, especially Western red-bellied tiger beetles.

Donna Stevens interviews Sharman Apt Russell, the author of several books, including An Obsession with Butterflies, Anatomy of a Rose, and Hunger: An Unnatural History.  Her latest book is called  Diary of a Citizen Scientist: Chasing tiger beetles and other new ways of engaging the world.  As the title implies, Russell spent a couple of years observing, collecting, and raising tiger beetles in her quest to become a “Leading World Authority.”

Listen in to learn about tiger beetles, citizen science, and how you, too, can become a Leading World Authority.  Try this at home, boys and girls!
