Earth Matters / Ron Troy on Land Conservation through Conservation Easements

Earth Matters co-producer and Gila Resources Information Project executive director Allyson Siwik talks with Ron Troy – Southern New Mexico Project Manager with the New Mexico Land Conservancy.

As our global population continues on its unsustainable trajectory to 11 billion people by the end of the century, huge pressure is put on our natural resources to meet the demands for food, fiber, and fuel. This trend has enormous consequences for our water resources, ecosystems, wildlife and working landscapes.  How do we balance development with protection of our natural and cultural heritage?  The New Mexico Land Conservancy is answering this call in here in New Mexico to preserve our state’s land heritage by helping people conserve the places they love.
