Welcome to the maiden voyage of
Gila / Mimbres Community Radio & KURU‘s
presentation of programming from The Real News Network!
The Real News Network (TRNN) is a non-profit, viewer-supported daily video-news and documentary service. They don’t accept advertising, nor government or corporate funding. TRNN is sustained by viewer donations and earned revenue.
Since 2007, They have produced more than 7,000 stories that have been viewed more than 100 million times. The next phase of development is the move to television.
But what makes The Real News truly different and significant is their commitment to both journalistic integrity AND citizen activism. Along with core professional staff, they are developing the next generation of progressive journalists and commentators by providing training and experience to minority, urban and poverty stricken youth in Baltimore and a model for alternative media across the country and around the world.
We will begin with their daily news summary – The Real News of the Day – Monday through Friday at 6pm. This program presents summaries of several top stories that are covered at length on their website.
The Real News presents an extraordinary range of content and contributors and GMCR / KURU will select from their current stories and present those programs in a weekly one hour time slot. Stay Tuned!
This is What Community Radio Looks Like!
