On this week’s program, join Donna Stevens of the Upper Gila Watershed Alliance for a conversation with Madeleine Carey of WildEarth Guardians on issues with major impacts on our public lands.

The euphemistically named “Wildlife Services” is a federal agency that historically and presently uses your tax dollars to kill wildlife on public lands – including birds, mountain lions, bears, coyotes, and wolves – in service to farming and ranching special interests.

They also discuss changes in public lands grazing – some good, others not so good – such as  voluntary grazing permit buyouts and retirements, the trend of family-owned ranches being sold to wealthy hobby ranchers, and some eye opening insights into global agricultural policy, not least of these being meat packing in general and the global beef industry in particular.

Earth Matters is broadcast
Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday at 10am and Thursday at 8pm.
