We are pleased and proud to present singer / songwriter / guitarist extraordinaire Kristina Olsen in a benefit concert for Gila / Mimbres Community Radio.

Kristina was born in San Francisco and raised in Haight-Asbury during the 1960’s.  Her
approach to music and life was formed by that environment of vital cultural
expression, social activism and diverse musical influences.  She lived in Venice Beach, CA for a number of years and now resides down under in Australia.

She is typically on the road and around the world for a good part of the year and though she’s on a hiatus from touring at the moment, she’s consented to come to Silver City specifically to support GMCR and offer her marvelous talents for our pleasure and enrichment.

and her songs have been covered by artists including Eric Bibb, Fairport Convention, Maddy Prior, Mary Coughlan and Mollie O’Brien.  She’s collaborated with other artists including playing hammered dulcimer on Michelle Shocked’s breakthrough album ‘Short Sharp Shocked’ and touring as Mary Coughlan’s guitarist.

Olsen has performed as a multi-instrumentalist in plays at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and she won the Kerrville Song writing award her song for battered women, I’m Keeping This Life of Mine.
