Earth Matters / Gila River Festival & Ken Brower

today17 September 2013

In this week’s installment Earth Matters, co-hosts Allyson Siwik of the Gila Conservation Coalition and Upper Gila Watershed Alliance‘s Donna Stevens interview writer and environmentalist Kenneth Brower.

Ken is the author of The Wildness Within, which honors his father, David Brower, on the centennial of his birth.  The elder Brower was the Executive Director of the Sierra Club for more than 20 years.  In that capacity, he fought many battles to keep rivers free-flowing and undammed.

Kenneth Brower is also the keynote speaker for the 9th Annual Gila River Festival, and will talk about the importance of rivers in the face of climate change, and current challenges, as well as those faced by his father.  Join us on September 19 / 7pm at WNMU / Global Resource Center for this talk.

The 2nd half of the program highlights the attractions and features of this year’s – the 9th annual – Gila River Festival including field trips, workshops, and a range of informational and social events.  Visit their website for details on the schedule and registration.
