Earth Day 2016

Join Earth Matters co-producer Allyson Siwik and Executive Director of Gila Resources Information Project (GRIP) and her guests Terry Timme of the Silver City Office of Sustainability, Jalissa Frederick of GRIP and the Silver City Watershed Keepers, and Kendra Milligan of the Southwest Center for Health Innovation for a discussion of this year’s Earth Day festivities taking place on April 22nd and 23rd in Silver City.

This year marks the 46th anniversary of Earth Day, an annual celebration of our environment. As the largest civic event in the world, Earth Day brings more than a billion people together to call attention to environmental issues and builds community activism through a broad range of events and activities.  The theme for Earth Day 2016 is “Trees for the Earth” and it kicks off the Earth Day Network’s goal of planting 7.8 billion trees by the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020.
