This installment of Earth Matters is hosted by Allyson Siwik of GRIP and features Sally Smith – one of GRIP’s founders – who has been deeply involved for the last several months in a stakeholder process that totaled some twenty meetings including environmental, mining industry and NMED agency representatives to develop prescriptive regulations that use best practices as a model for this significant revision and to insure compliance with the Water Quality Act.

In the week following the recording of this program, an NMED meeting was held in Silver City to receive public input on the draft revision but serious controversy erupted when the draft revision was missing several key provisions that had been seemingly agreed to in the stakeholder discussions.  See GMCR’s exclusive coverage of this meeting here.
