There are 136 positive cases of COVID-19 in New Mexico, with one death in the state from the virus according to the NM Dept. of Health.  Grant County currently does not have any positive cases of coronavirus. 

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham formally requested that the U.S. Defense Department deploy a staffed 248-bed U.S. Army combat support hospital to Albuquerque as a proactive measure intended to enhance the state’s treatment capacity. Lujan Grisham asked that the hospital be placed under the operational control of Brigadier General Michele K. LaMontagne of the New Mexico National Guard. (Press release)

This morning at 10 am, state officials are hosting a virtual conference call and are expected to announce an extension of current school closures to both protect New Mexicans from COVID-19 and ensure that children are protected, fed, and educated throughout the crisis. The Senate passed a $2 trillion federal coronavirus aid package on Wednesday aimed at saving jobs, bailing out companies and helping workers and families. The Silver City Farmers’ Market will be held this Saturday, March 28, 10am-1 pm. at the corner of Pope St.  and College Avenue in the old Life Quest parking lot.  Cash and EBT  is accepted with DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS to double your benefits for fresh fruits and vegetable purchases. Any unused Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers will be accepted through April 11. Fresh local produce, including micro-greens and hothouse tomatoes, root vegetables, and new seasonal produce every week, as well as Grass-fed meats, honey, baked goods, tortillas, and tamales. Shoppers are asked to please keep a physical distance of 6 feet while lining up and to disperse immediately after shopping to comply with social distancing guidance.
