Person giving a thumbs up in front of a mixing board that is new at the timeOur Fall 22 Fundraiser will culminate on Saturday with over 12 hours of live DJs from 8AM to 10PM! Music, poetry, plays and more. If you haven’t had a chance to show your support this week, now is the time. We rely on your support to maintain our operations, from your help paying for our rental space on the tower to upgrading our infrastructure. Last fundraiser, your donations helped us to purchase a brand new mixing board (Arrakis Systems ARC-talk-Blue), a long overdue and massive upgrade from our previous board. That isn’t to say we aren’t grateful for our previous mixing board, the Allen and Heath XB13 – thank you for all of your time committed to the station. If you’re interested in purchasing a used broadcasting mixing board, email manager@gmcr.org.

With all that out of the way, here is our Saturday live extravaganza line-up

08:00 AM – Roots and Branches

Ken Keppeler and Jeanie McLerie, hosts for 8 years now, play recordings of Roots music from around the World. There are No Borders in the world of music, from very old field recordings and traditional music, to modern folk, you can hear it all. These two back porch folklorists have a lot of knowledge about the genres of music that they choose to play and they have a lot of fun.

10:00 AM – Thomas Jefferson Hour

Clay Jenkinson has returned from his cultural tour in France and speaks to us this week about Jefferson’s time there and the sites in France that were visited. Clay also shares insight on the relationships between Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John and Abigail Adams.

11:00 PM – Jamie Newton with Bart Sutter

As a special feature of GMCR’s fall 2022 fundraiser, Jamie Newton interviewed Barton Sutter, the first Poet Laureate of Duluth, Minnesota, and a much-published author whose literary works have won many awards. Bart and his wife, artist Dorothea Diver, spend part of each spring in Silver City, where they have become familiar and cherished in the community.

12:00 PM – Silver City Community Theater

Join us Saturday at noon for Green Room Gossip with SCCT Radio Hour hostess Wendy Spurgeon. Catch up on what’s new at Starlight Theatre with Joe Navan and Monte Valenzuela, as well as the latest from Virus Theater with Jessa Tumposky.

01:00 PM – Mitchellaneous

Saturday’s lineup includes a special appearance from Mitch Hellman doing a one-hour version of his Mitchellaneous show, which usually appears every Friday from 2 to 4PM. Send in your musical requests to mitch@gmcr.org.

02:00 PM – Ramblin’ Radio Revival

Ramblin’ Radio Revival is for folks who love both music and the musicians who make it.  Join Nan Franzblau for a ramble through the musical genres of folk, rock, pop, jazz, world beat, and blues.  Discover how all music is connected and how it connects all of us. 03:00 PM – Peep Show with St. Ranger
