The Equity Hour: Where the Political is Personal

today3 February 2025

Background

The Equity Hour: Where the Political is Personal is a monthly show that airs on the first Monday of the month at 10 am and the following Sunday at 4 pm and is part of the Kindred Continuum series. For part III of their Immigration series, Co-hosts Cindy “Renee” Provencio and Kit West interviewed GiGi, a woman who worked in immigration detention centers in New Mexico 20 years ago. Many migrants shared their stories with GiGi, stories that stayed with her all these years. The stories shared in this episode are reminiscent of current migration stories and reveal the conditions that drive migration to the United States. Most importantly, this episode reminds us of the fact that migrants are worthy of human dignity, respect, safety and wellbeing.
