Welcome to Civil Discourse with your host Jamie Newton.
Civil Discourse is a public affairs program of conversations and discussions on significant issues facing our community, our society and our world with emphasis on their relevance to life in the Gila/Mimbres area.
Jamie Newton is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at San Francisco State University, where for 31 years he taught courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in social psychology, social conflict and conflict resolution, research methods, and related topics. Throughout his life, Jamie has been active in community organizing for peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability, with an emphasis on training grassroots activists for nonviolent social change. He earned his B.A. degree summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1968, and his Ph.D. degree from Stanford University in 1977. Jamie lives in the Mimbres Valley with his wife, Marion.
Civil Discourse will be presented from time to time and hopefully on a regular schedule later this year.
