This week on Use Your Words!, Elise Stuart interviews Stella Pope Duarte, the Arizona author hailed by critics as a “major literary voice in America.”
So far Duarte’s published works include two short story collections, two books of historical fiction, a memoir, and most recently, a biography titled Raul H. Yzaguirre: Seated at the Table of Power. This book chronicles the life of Yzaguirre, the civil rights leader and president and CEO of the National Council of La Raza for thirty years.
Duarte has earned numerous awards for her work, including the American Book Award, Southwest Book of the Year Award, the Luis Leal Award for Distinction in Chicano/Latino Literature, and a Pulitzer Prize nomination.
