Earth Matters / Cyndi Tuell on Travel Management

today16 July 2014

This week on Earth Matters, co-producer Donna Stevens interviews attorney Cyndi Tuell on the Gila National Forest’s recently released Travel Management decision. This process, which proved to be quite contentious, involved the analysis of every road in the Gila to determine whether it was necessary or redundant, harmful or benign.  The Travel Management decision leaves open more than 3,300 miles of roads – enough to drive from San Diego to Maine. But some people still claim that’s not enough forest access.

Donna Stevens and Cyndi Tuell have worked on the Travel Management issue for years, and are relieved to finally have a decision from the Forest Service. Listen to this week’s program for more information about what the Travel Management decision does to protect the Gila National Forest, and how it falls short in some areas.
