Join Donna Stevens of the Upper Gila Watershed Alliance for this edition of Earth Matters, where she talks with UGWA Education Director Carol Ann Fugagli and Mike Fugagli, the Eco-monitoring Youth Conservation Corps supervisor at Aldo Leopold Charter School. We’re talking about the Silver City Carboneers, an innovative project that will work with Civilian Climate Corps contractors to accomplish several goals at once. Using new technology such as Johnson-Su composters and biochar furnaces, we’ll keep food waste from area schools out of the landfill, create fungal-rich compost that can be used for land restoration, teach kids about soil as a living system, and much more.
