Jamie Newton / Voter Convenience… At What Price?

Did you know that most of Grant County’s familiar precinct polling places in and near Silver City have been eliminated for the 2012 election cycle, and some have been consolidated outside Silver City?

The closed polling places were replaced by six Voter Convenience Centers – three in Silver City and one each in Bayard, Hurley, and Tyrone.

On September 26, 2012, Jamie Newton interviewed Grant County Clerk Robert Zamarripa for details on these changes and their justification, as well as longtime Silver City resident and Democratic Party activist Anne McCormick, who is concerned about possible impacts of the changes.

  • Monday, Wednesday Friday and Sunday at 10:30am &
  • Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm through election day
